I have been on the hunt for a basic vanilla cake recipe. Every one I've tried has had the consistency of cornmeal, had a bland flavor, or has been too dry and crumbly. I've been wary of trying to find a new recipe because there doesn't seem to just be a good staple vanilla anywhere.
