Michigan has their cherry festival every year over the July 4th weekend. Traverse City in the northwestern part of the southern peninsula spends an entire week of celebration. During that time you can buy almost anything you can think of made from cherries. Food items are big, but crafts and homemade items also are prevalent. The streets are lined with vendors selling their wares. A carnival atmosphere also permeates the main street with the different contests and raffles that are provided. Movies and concerts in the park, cooking demonstrations are all activities you can join. It is a great family event if you ever get to make the trip!
