Introduction: This is the cake of my childhood, my Mother used to make it starting late in the summer from the summer apples in our garden and late in the winter from those apples that would keep over the winter. One thing about our modern life is that fruit and vegetables have lost their seasonality. You can buy tasteless perfect looking apples all year round but nothing compares with the true taste of the homegrown organic apple. The smell of this cake baking in the oven brings sweet childhood memories back to life, I see her smiling and serving us the mouth watering delicious pie. Here is my version of my Mother's apple cake.
