This is by far the most decadent, interesting, time consuming, messiest, and stickiest pie I have ever made.  I don't mean to imply that it's not good.  It's over the top sweet, rich, and maybe even complicated, but traveling husband said it tastes absolutely incredible.   I am surprised how much the tartness of the apples
