These meatballs are very popular in my family. Perfect to take to the beach, they are a standard member of any of our outings. This recipe comes from my wife, although there are a lot of versions out there. One year, my son Philip and I were in New York City for an Apple convention. My wife called a Cypriot restaurant owner in Astoria and we were asked to visit the restaurant. When asked about our favorite foods in preparation of the visit, I told him that Keftedes were Philip's favorite. When we arrived at the restaurant, there was a plate of these meatballs waiting for us. The owner proudly explained this was one of his specialties and asked my son if they were as good as his mother's. Philip, ever the diplomat answered that they were very good, but that his mother's cooking held a special place in his heart and he could not pick one over the other.
