Never having had gnocchi before, I was a little uncertain what to expect from this dish. I used shelf-stable whole wheat gnocchi as opposed to making them fresh (especially the first time!). Look for them in the pasta section of your supermarket; I found them grouped in with the polenta and risotto. Whole Wheat Gnocchi
