Lemongrass, Ginger and Turmeric are 3 pretty awesome herbs. They each have incredible healing and beneficial properties and are used together often in Asian recipes. We always had a few bushes of lemongrass and ginger growing at home (you can learn how to grow you own ginger here). Making a tea from any one of these herbs on it’s own or together is easy – chop, add water, simmer and enjoy. This Lemongrass, Ginger, Turmeric and Black pepper tea is something I have on the stove most days. It’s a super drink with so many benefits. [UPDATE] – This post has been updated to include black pepper which contains piperine. When combined with turmeric, it increases the bioavailability of the powerful anti-oxidant curcumin (found in turmeric) by 1000 times, which means your body can absorb more. It’s even better when you have it with this Raisin Bread which contains healthy fats from coconut milk and oil Curcumin is known for it’s anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties. It’s known to help support healthy joint function, lower blood pressure, aid depression, promote radiant skin, boost the immune system and assist with many other modern diseases. It really is one of natures most powerful superfoods. A tip from my Doctor was to always have it with pepper and fat for the best absorption and activation.
